My oldest Nephew gave his mission farewell talk today. I was blessed to be able to drive an hour to listen to his talk and show support to him and his family at this time. He shared some wonderful insights. One that stood out to me today was how he has learned to love service and looks forward to going to serve. Another Sister who just returned shared a great poem about a young missionary struggling with his mission and having a dream about the Savior talking with him about his struggles and how he understood them intimately.
Key to any sacrament meeting is renewing covenants by partaking of the sacrament. As I did, I reflected on the symbolism that was revealed to me last Christmas. As I took the bread, I envisioned the baby Jesus in the Manger (please read the thoughts linked above to understand this symbolism better) feeding me with the hope of His light and inviting me to take His name upon me - to identify as His and partake of His offering on my behalf.
As I did so I could feel of His love and how He was gently teaching me how to do that better. As I strive to always remember Him, I will be given strength to make better choices and be refined to be more like Him. As I build up experiences in choosing to follow, I reinforce to myself that I am a disciple of Christ. Fittingly, the youth did a musical number singing Disciple of Christ.
Be Strong!
