I carried on with the simplicity of yesterday's new plan to set a timer for two minutes while doing an exercise and then to listen to scripture while putting away dishes from the dishwasher. I found that with the two-minute simplicity, I was able to sneak in a two-minute stationary bike ride last night as well as two minutes of push-ups this morning in batches of five. Nothing too impressive, but I'm creating patterns that will lead to consistency and strengthen within me the identity of being someone who works physical activity into daily life. As these patterns strengthen, I can increase the workload in various ways as well (You can get details on simple progressions in the 'Get Strong' page, for now to keep my time to two-minutes, I'll be using the 'Hasten" progression to increase the work I get done in two minutes. Rather than get overly worked up about precise tracking just now, I'm just making sure to get the workouts in to start building the connections in my brain and building the habit. Soon though, I'll get myself a log to start tracking the numbers of each exercise I do and working on getting more done in my two minute spurts of exercise. I'll likely also start leveraging circuits to get more done as I can use different exercises for different muscle groups during rest periods for other exercises.
I'm also enjoying starting the day with the accomplishment of making sure my bed is made and the dishwasher is ready to accept breakfast dishes when the kids get up. This isn't a perfect way to work scripture into my day, but it is helping me to ensure I get at least that little bit to start my day. I'm also aiming to finish my day by reading one verse - doesn't matter which one verse, I just need to read one verse to establish the habit of picking up scripture and reading as I settle down for sleep at night.
The hope is that I will also get to where I am easily having a nice little read to settle my mind for sleep and a good listen to start my day. Over time I want to go farther, but this is journey is about taking one step at a time and making sure that positive action is taken daily, and refining and perfecting action over time to avoid getting stuck searching for the perfect while avoiding action until it is found losing out on all the growth that could have been had while searching and realizing the simple truth that practice makes perfect, while reading and theorizing about the best practice don't actually develop the skills of true practice.

Thanks, I can do this - I like this two minute habit forming plan. Dad
I love this. 2 min is attainable and buildable. Thanks for sharing. I often get caught in perfection and all or nothing.
@Emerson and @Michelle, I appreciate your comments and I'm glad this idea of simplifying is resonating with you.
